Real Estate Open House Tips

When you are trying to sell your home, an open house is the ideal way to interest prospective buyers. Before you open your doors to possible clients, you need to make sure that a few details are taken care of first. The more work you put in your open house, the more chance you will have of selling your home quickly.

1) Use Those Amenities

Do not assume that a potential buyer will be able to picture a fire in the fire place or understand the potential of the backyard deck. Have that fireplace burning and set up the deck with nice furniture. If you have amenities in your home, then put them on display during your open house.

2) Make it Look and Smell Clean

If your carpets are a little dirty, then rent a carpet cleaner. If the trim around the kitchen door could use a coat of paint, then paint it. Make your home look as clean as possible before people show up for your open house. Use room fresheners to give a clean smell to go along with the clean look.

3) Have Answers Ready

People often work so hard on the look of their house that they forget that potential buyers will be asking questions as well. Have answers prepared for questions about the age of the roof, the condition of the furnace and the neighborhood. If you are asked why you are selling the home, then develop an honest answer that does not make it sound like you are trying to get rid of it.
